Kati Barklund, SSP Modern Workplace, Microsoft

1. When and Where did you attend your most recent World Workplace conference?
The last one was in 2016 in San Diego.

2. What is great with the WWP conferences?
I have been to the last three World Workplace conferences in US and it has been a great experience. The best thing has been the fantastic networking opportunity with FM and workplace people from all around the world and the inspiration from the many great presentations. For me the World Workplace conference has been the highlight of the FM year.

3. What are your expectations regarding our first European WWP conference?
I have high expectations and I am so glad that the World Workplace Conference is finally coming to Europe and very proud about the fact that we in the Nordics, Sweden and Stockholm, are first out from all great European cities around us. I except that we will have 3 great days with inspiration, networking and exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences, and I am especially looking forward to showcase some of our innovative and sustainable companies, workplaces and buildings here to our FM/Workplace friends coming to town.

4. What is your favorite FM/Workplace topic right now?
For me the most interesting areas right now are workplace strategy area, digitalization, productivity, innovation, and sustainability.

My most recent WWP was in Denver, Colorado

2. What is great with the WWP conferences?
It is a great opportunity to be inspired and to continue learning! You get to meet and talk to new people and old friends in the industry from all over the world about topics that are truly relevant to your profession and to your professional development. I also enjoy the opportunity to learn more about new places as WWP are held in new cities every year.

3. What are your expectations regarding our first European WWP conference?
I attended to European WWP conferences when they were last held, a couple of years ago, and I think it is brilliant to be able to attend a truly global conference in a European context, as it is a reflection of how many of us work today. I expect great global and local speakers and the opportunity to meet interesting attendees. As a Swede, I hope to be able to share some of what is great with our country and the way we do FM too.

4. What is your favorite FM/Workplace topic right now?
Without doubt leadership. With increased digitalisation and the continuing transformation of the FM industry, the ability to lead through change is what is going to determine your and your organisations success.

Peter Ankarstjerne, ISS
Peter Ankerstjerna1. When and where did you attend your most recent World Workplace conference?
I attended my last WW in San Diego, US in October last year. This was actually an anniversary for me as this was my 10’th WW – The first time I attended an IFMA’s World Workplace was in Philadelphia, US in 2006 – and I have attended one every year ever since!

2. What is great with the WWP conferences?
I think there are two main reasons for attending WW; firstly these conferences provides a great networking opportunity. It is here you meet anybody who is anything within Facilities Management – and you build-up quite a network between peers from other companies, customers, suppliers but also advisors and academics. The nice thing about this is, that it is almost like a family get-together, I now know so many people, which I really look forward to meeting every year.

Secondly; WW offers a unique learning opportunity – it is really here you can understand what’s the newest trends and developments within the built environment. But more than that, the formats offer an opportunity to get close to the presenters and ask questions or engage in a discussion, which allows you to focus on your business and what’s important for you.

3. What are your expectations regarding our first European WWP conference?
I have really high expectations now that IFMA’s WW is finally established in Europe. My expectations are that we will learn, what’s new in the industry especially within Workplace Experiences, Technology, Co-working environments and then what is happening within the exciting initiative of Workplace Evolutionaries. In additions, I also expect to meet some new friends and hopefully see some new companies who are getting into the exciting world of FM…

4. What is your favorite FM/Workplace topic right now?
That’s got to be – Future of Work or New Ways of Working. The workplace as we know it is undergoing tremendous change at the moment fueled by new generations entering the workforce (millennials), new technologies and new working habits. We are seeing a convergence of work, workforce and workplace at the moment, which is very exciting – and I don’t think the built environment has been under such a dramatic pressure for change ever before, which I find fascinating.
